Finley Cats Finals Update – Under 14s Book Grand Final SpotIt was a big weekend of finals football for the Finley Cats, with the Under 14s booking their place in the Grand Final, while the Reserves’ season came to an end after a strong finals campaign.
Under 14s Through to the Grand FinalFinley’s Under 14s are Grand Final bound after a terrific 22-point Semi Final victory over Cobram in wet and challenging conditions.
The Cats started strongly, taking a 14–1 lead into quarter time before producing a disciplined team performance to eventually run out 5.6 (36) to 1.8 (14) winners.
Finley’s pressure, defensive work and willingness to compete for one another were outstanding. All 22 players contributed to the victory, with the Cats remaining composed when challenged and producing a decisive third quarter to take control of the contest.
Noah Brindley, Tommy Bain, Samuel Hay, Hudson Daniel, Orlando Orsida and Jed Flanagan were named among the best, while Orsida led the scoring with three goals.
For a young group that has shown enormous improvement throughout the season, earning a place in the Grand Final is a fantastic achievement and reward for the work of the players and coaching team.
There is now just one job left to do.

Reserves Finals Campaign Comes to an EndFinley’s Reserves bowed out of the finals after a 48-point Semi Final loss to Congupna, but not before producing a spirited performance and capping off a season of significant development.
The Cats came out firing and took a 25–18 lead into quarter time. Liam Rafferty was outstanding early, kicking three first-half goals, while Cameron Isedale produced some important intercept marks in defence.
Congupna responded strongly in the second quarter and gradually took control of the contest, eventually running out 17.3 (105) to 9.3 (57) winners.
Luke Congram provided a strong target forward, Chris Wright and Jordan Sykes worked tirelessly through the midfield, while Jack Miley was recognised for an outstanding team-first performance.
While the loss brings the Reserves’ season to an end, there is plenty for the group to be proud of. Reaching the finals and recording a thrilling one-point Elimination Final victory over Tongala was a great reward for the commitment and improvement shown throughout the year.

After finishing second on the ladder and continuing their impressive development throughout the year, the young Cats have earned their opportunity to play for the ultimate prize.
